After Skye's party, we headed home and Louis enjoyed a bit of dandling with Pat and Kate. He's a very relaxed, easy going wee guy - which is just as well, because on Saturday evening Helen and I left him and Holly and went out to the movies to see The Flying Scotsman. I won tickets for it in a competition. It's an incredible story, but alas merely an average movie...

Happy Birthday Skye!
Saturday afternoon, and we headed off to the Queen's Park (Queenie was in town at the time, something to do with this, but she didn't seem to mind us using her garden) for Skye's birthday. The rain started bang on schedule, but we all managed to have a great time anyway, with Duncan's rather splendid treasure hunt rivalled only by Sarah's chocolate cake as the highlight of the afternoon.
Funny Little Park Mk 3275
A slight variation on the Saturday morning routine this week, Helen went food shopping alone and Louis came to the Funny Little Park with Holly and I. Holly braved the Scottish summer in a pair of pink shorts, and Louis slept throughout - thank goodness!

Roll On, Wednesday
A rare spot of sunshine on Wednesday afternoon when I picked up Holly from Grandma Sheila's, and we took the opportunity to roll around on the grass for a while. It was raining again 10 minutes later...

Bathtime for Louis - again
A rather dark, grainy shot (from my phone) of Louis sitting up - albeit with some assistance, let's not forget he's not three months old yet - in the bath and taking in what's going on.
Party Weekend
It's that time of year, when a sudden flurry of birthdays keeps our diary full and the party dress in constant use. This weekend, we celebrated baby Sam's 1st at Claire and David's, Aaran's 3rd at Caroline and Craig's, and Grandma Sheila's 21st at South Queensferry. Strangely we only managed to take pictures at Aaran's, here's Holly playing pass the parcel and tucking into some fine party snacks with Olivia.
The Queen's Puddles
Sunday morning, and instead of going swimming we head off to the Queen's Gallery Café again, there to meet with Pete, Anna, Leo and Nate. Holly and Leo have a grand time splashing in the puddles, which are in plentiful supply thanks to the traditional Scottish summer downpours.

Home on a Wednesday
What's this? Wednesday morning, and Holly's not ready to head off to Grandma Sheila's? Well, Grandma Sheila is having a well-earned week off, and here we see Holly and Louis conspiring to make Helen's day as difficult as possible. Butter wouldn't melt and all that...

Bathtime Cuddle on Father's Day
After a busy day's swimming and eating ice cream at the Queen's house, we sat down for 10 minutes of CBeebies while Helen did a bit of veggie prep for dinner. Holly held Louis' hand so he wouldn't be frightened of the flash...
Ice Cream With The Queen
Well not exactly with the Queen, but at the Queen's Gallery Café next to Holyrood Palace and opposite the Scottish Parliament building. Summer made a brief appearance this afternoon, so the shades were on and the ice cream was inevitable. As was the ensuing messy face. Pete, Anna, Leo and Nate were there too, but we forgot to take a picture of them, such was the photographic attraction of Holly the film star...
Passport Control
Crazy as it may seem, Louis - though not yet three months old - needs his own passport for our forthcoming foreign travels. Here's a small selection from the 14,000,000 pictures I took this afternoon. He was quite relaxed, and gave us a good selection of expressions to choose from - click the pic for more.
Chilly for June
Saturday morning, and it must be one of the dreichest June days I can remember. Summer has been forgotten as we dress up in wellies and raincoats to head out to the Funny Little Park and the ice cream shop as per usual. Poor weather is no impediment to eating ice cream, after all.
At Home With Mummy
Just a quick Louis shot from last Monday, having a nice wee snuggle with Helen before bathtime. It's a bit out of focus but just feels warm and cosy...
Helen's Night Out
Going back a couple of weeks, Helen was on her way out for a wee soiree with the girls, and we did a bit of dandling in the back garden with Louis looking perky and Helen looking every inch the fabulous yummy mummy...

Tree Huggers
Sunday afternoon, and we met up with Pete, Sarah, Evie and Marianne to visit the festival of trees at Inverleith Park. Not just trees, but green and sustainable lifestyles in general. Plus a beer tent! Grandma Pat did a sterling job, taking Evie and Holly off to make forest headgear, look for fairies and listen to stories sprawled on sheepskin rugs in a hand-made yurt. We grownups sat in a circle on the grass and drank beer and soaked up the hippie middle class parent vibes. Louis found the overcast sky a bit bright so borrowed his sister's shades. They didn't help.
Changing Rooms
The usual Sunday morning swim, this time at the Commonwealth Pool to meet with Pete, Anna, Leo and Nate. Getting changed afterwards, Holly (who was ready before I was) climbed into one of the lockers and started singing to herself. She didn't even miss a beat when Leo closed the door. Luckily I had 50p to get her back out again...

First Barbie Of The Year
Summer continued tentatively into the afternoon today, and we headed up to Pete and Anna's for a barbecue and to say hello to little Nate. Louis was resplendent in his "wife beater" and Holly enjoyed sampling the toasted marshmallows she's read so much about. It was a very nice family afternoon.
Sunny Saturday Morning
At long last, summer has reached Edinburgh. This morning, we were able to sit outside our favourite ice cream shop and enjoy the sunshine with Grandma Pat, who's visiting this weekend. Holly kept busy mixing her drinks, but the heat was all a bit much for Louis, who slept in his vest, snuggled in to Helen.

Six in the morning
It's just after 6:00am, and Louis has just woken up after sleeping through the whole night since his "dream feed" at 11. We're not getting too excited though, it's just possible this has more than something to do with the fact that he got his first jabs yesterday. They left him feeling grotty in the afternoon and needing lots of cuddles, but seem to have knocked him out for the night! In the meantime, at the last weigh-in he's now just a few ounces off a stone at 13lb 13oz. That's almost half Holly's weight!

Scott's Birthday Part 2
These are Scott's pictures from his birthday soiree, including some of Holly running maniacally round the table, and the footballer's haircut Calum gave to Louis while the wee fellow slept.

Sunday in the Meadows
There was a funfair in the meadows today, so we popped along despite the fact that it was raining. It was - predictably - loud and garish and tacky, but there were a few kiddie rides and Holly had a fun spin on a double decker bus. After that, we met Pete and Leo at the new playground at the east end of the meadows where it was still raining but Holly and Leo showed their Scottish stoicism and had fun anyway, even managing to get even wetter playing with the Archimedes' screw and the waterwheel. Holly got so wet she needed a complete clothes change, and the boot of the peoplemobile had more than enough capacity, even if we hadn't actualy brought any dry clothes. Helen's t-shirt was pressed into service and we all tootled home, pleased at having made the best of a wet afternoon.
Under The Duvet
Sunday morning, and before going swimming Holly and I were mucking about under the duvet when she asked whether I had a torch. I didn't, but the light on my camera phone seemed to do the trick, and I snapped a few pics while we were under there.
Oceamum Temimal
Saturday afternoon, and Holly announced that she'd like to go to Ocean Terminal to feed the ducks. Not that there are any ducks there. So we popped down on the bicycle leaving Helen and Louis to catch up on foot, and pottered around on the top floor, where Holly paused to address her public from the balcony in a somewhat messianic way.

Funny Little Park Mk XXVIII
Saturday morning, the sun was shining and it felt a *bit* like summer's coming for the first time in a wee while. As usual, Helen and Louis went food shopping while Holly and I went to the Funny Little Park before reconvening in the ice cream shop. Befitting the weather, Holly wore a cute little boho outfit of shorts and shoes from Grandma Sheila, a rather nice long top / short dress Helen bought, and her "summer hat" that we somehow inherited from nursery...

Holiday Friday
Friday, and I took the day off (after two postponed Holiday Mondays, I'll spare you the details) to do a bit of much-needed re-grouting in the bathroom. We also managed to fit in a bit a light mucking about - and smiling in Louis' case - in the morning, and I rigged up a swing under the big tree for Holly before bathtime.
Pedal Power
Wednesday, and Holly came to meet me from work on her Postman Pat trike, with Grandma Sheila the power behind the throne. On closer inspection, it became apparent that Holly was in fact pedalling! It won't be long till we're off on long bike rides together at the weekend... next day, and Holly managed to eat Grandma's chocolate lollipop without getting any on her lovely new top.
