So I'm doing a bit of video editing, and came across this footage from last year's trip to Tenerife. Don't be fooled, the sun may be shining and the water may be clear and blue, but it was windy, and that blue water was COLD! Holly also had chickenpox at the time (a bit naughty of us taking her to the pool) but she still loved splashing around in the pool, curled up against the cold!

Happy Birthday Scoot!
Monday evening, and we were all off to Howies in town for a wee spot of dinner to celebrate Scott's last birthday starting with a "3". Holly was a wee sweetie throughout, and was up very late for a wee girl.
Happy Monday
Holly shares her bed with Louis, then puts on her party frock as we're going out for dinner. Out and about wondering when Daddy's coming home, she meets Olivia on the way home from the park, and the two wee pink girls achieve previously unrecorded levels of sweetness.

The North Face
Saturday, and the entire family set out to conquer the north face of Corstorphine Hill. Holly, having watched Maisy and her chums climbing a mountain on TV, insisted we were all roped together for safety. We drew a few odd glances, but had a great time exploring the woods, the ruins and the criscrossing pathways. We stopped for a snack by Clermiston Tower and paused to listen to the birds in the trees above.

Twinkletoes
Helen and Holly did a bit of mutual toenail-painting on Friday. Later on, Calum popped in on his way to cub camp to say hello and have a little dandle. Louis continues to expand!

Wednesday
Arriving at Grandma's today, Holly was delighted to find Calum's baby-foot table and have a wee go on it. Meantime, Helen was taking Louis fox his six-week checkup at which it was determined that he's grown 3cm and now weighs a mighty 12lb 7oz! Shortly after that, I was taking a lunchtime stroll by the Water of Leith and so overcome by the lush greenness of it all that I felt compelled to take a picture of it. And on the way home, Holly rather enjoyed a turn behind the wheel of the fancy new peoplemobile.

Weekend Review
Another busy weekend started with chores, shopping, the funny little park and ice cream on Saturday morning, and Holly took the opportunity to dig out her fluffy "55" top. Saturday afternoon we visited the Millar grandparents and Holly gave Louis another expressed bottle. On Sunday, I was off pedalling up and down the gruesome climbs and descents of the Great Drumtochty Challenge, while Helen, Holly and Louis visited Anna and Pete, and their new (as yet unnamed) wee boy. Lastnight Louis had a bit of a disturbed night, and we all lost a bit of sleep. Today Helen took the weans to the beach at Portobello with Sarah, Skye, Lesley and Luke. This evening, we had a nice family cuddle and marvelled at how big Louis is getting - and how quickly!

Friday Fun
Fridays are busy days with two weans to keep an eye on. Today Helen, Holly and Louis visited Claire's in the morning. Louis had a cuddle with Gill, while Holly, Ollie, Olivia and Niamh made a mess of Ollie's bed. In the afternoon, the sun came out and Holly practiced her film star poses in her new sunglasses.

Milestones
Last night Louis only had one feed during the night. Okay, Helen fed him when we went to bed at 11, and we were all up at 6:15, a time slightly on the wrong side of acceptable for right-minded folks, but only being woken up once in between is magnificent. Hot on the heels of that breakthough, this evening Helen expressed some milk into a wee bottle and tried Louis on it at Holly's bedtime. After a very brief period of uncertainty, he got right on with it and even Holly was able to help out and hold the bottle for a while. This bodes very well for Helen's independence as she can now leave the house for more than an hour at a time!

The Painters & Decorators Are In
Pat and John have been up this week, visiting the grandchildren and - in John's case - being put to work in the back bedroom, giving it a lick of paint and a bit of general titivation. It's been great for both of us to have a bit of help around the house, and to be able to relax a bit. Holly and Louis love having them around too!
Gap Year 2023?
Leo visited last Sunday, and the two little scamps had a splendid time washing our fancy new car and getting soaked to the skin. A short clothes change later, and they unearthed a couple of rucsacks and set about preparing to Inter-rail round Europe.

Ballad Of A Running Man
Today I ran the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run in 46:44, an average time for me but not bad considering I haven't run at all since the half marathon last month. It was a hilly course, and very windy. Pushing uphill through the Queen's Park into a headwind, I felt like I was going backwards, and nobody else seemed to be faring any better. Still, that didn't stop winner Hosea Macharinyang doing it in 29:14. Official pictures of me suffering here.

A Saturday Stroll
A stroll by the Water of Leith. Holly has taken to crossing her legs in the buggy, which lends her a somewhat urbane air. On this occasion it was accompanied by a short bout of sullen reflection, but you can't have everything. Louis took it all in his stride, and ended the day with a bath, which he appears to enjoy greatly.

Busy Friday
On Friday morning, Louis had an appointment at the Medical Centre to have his hearing tested. I took the day off and, after Holly had finished the dishes, we all walked down there together. While Louis was being tested, Holly and I took a stroll by the Water of Leith and threw stones in. Louis passed with flying colours, and after lunch we headed out to deepest West Lothian to collect a double buggy Helen had found on Gumtree. That done, we popped into Almondell Country Park on the way home to road test the buggy and get a bit of fresh air. It's a lovely spot, with woods, rock pools and a wooden car among other attractions. The sun came out too, and we had an ice cream. Helen and Holly threw stones into the river while Louis and I gazed up at sunlit leaves against a blue sky. After returning home for dinner, we finished the day with a nice bath.
At Home With The Millars
What with all this mucking about with Helen's new camera and my fancy new phone, I had quite forgotten about these pictures on my "proper" camera - I was mucking about with lighting, trying to get the dim-but-relaxed feel of the room. Some worked, some didn't...
