Building Works April 27

Building works have begun - they've stripped out the stud walls and roof lining from the existing loft space, and already it feels a *lot* brighter and more open, which bodes well.

Bouncy Hair

Hot on the heels of my first outing with slo-mo, here's Holly on the trampoline.

Before

Today, in anticipation of works beginning on the extension to our extension, we cleared out Holly's room. She's been in there since we moved in around her fourth birthday! We're extending the attic conversion out over the kitchen extension, and upstairs will become the domain of the grownups, with a bedroom, dressing room, shower room, and a wee study. Holly will move into our old room, which is also in need of a bit of an upgrade.

Just Hangin' Out

While the boys ran about, Holly and Eloise amused themselves by dangling off the posts. It was around this time I discovered my phone camera has a slo-mo mode. Nothing much happens until about a minute in.

Rugby Party

Louis is nine! How did that happen? Anyhoo, in line with his current obsession he had a rugby party with RHC Cougars. It was awesome, there is no better thing in the world for occupying a bunch of nine year old boys than making them run around outside for an hour. Holly made a cake of course, modelled along the lines of the one she did for grandad last year. She and Eloise helped out with the party too.

Water of Leith Epic

I took Louis and Will on a bike ride down the Water of Leith Walkway, from Balerno to Murrayfield and back home on the cycle path. Next time we'll do the whole thing to Leith. We stopped at every piece of open ground for a bit of footie, and at the Blue Goose for a hot chocolate. Helen dropped us at Balerno High School and we headed off from there, it's easier downstream...

New Job

Well, same job in a different place. BT's fifteen-year contract with the City of Edinburgh Council ended, and do did mine. Canadian ITO behemoth CGI picked up the pieces, including me. Still reeling from a week's skiing, I arrived to a new desk, a new laptop, a new phone and two boxes of old crap. Induction complete!

Dirty Boy

We thought Louis might be tired after a week's skiing, but he still had the energy for an RHC Cougars training session when we got back. He got very dirty indeed.

Tignes Spirit Redux

The Millars, the Dawsons, the Humphreys and the Blackburns were reunited - with a guest appearance by a solitary Lodge - in Tignes for Easter skiing. Weather was a bit more mixed, but all the kids are growing in confidence and increasingly mobile on the mountain. More please!
