Clunky video from a 3G iPhone, but video nonetheless:

Party
Sunday was Holly's party at the Trampoline Centre in Portobello. We had nineteen five and six year olds bouncing around indoors on what must have been one of the hottest days of the year. Red, shiny faces were rife and many cups of water were dispensed. Good job Helen had laid on a batch of ice lollies for cooling down too. Afterwards we headed home and Holly set about opening her massive pile of gifts while Louis looked on.
Anna's Party
Anna had her 40th birthday party on Saturday. It was a two-phase affair, with kiddies in the afternoon and grownups in the evening. Paula, Dave and Iain played us some tunes, and the kids frolicked in the huge paddling pool. Louis and Archie especially enjoyed diving into the pool once the older kids had left them a bit of space. Pete was in his element at the helm of the barbecue, charring massive lumps of meat.
Little Stars
End of term in the Little Stars class at Pointeworks Dance Academy. The idea is that, rather than a performance per se, it's a normal class but with parents watching. It was all highly entertaining stuff, with Holly in her element during the "free dance" sections. Everyone graduated to the Primary Ballet class for next year, and were presented with medals and certificates by Miss Nicky.
P1 Enterprise
All three P1 classes have been working on menus for healthy lunchboxes, and for some reason I don't fully understand the teams all presented their lunchboxes - beautifully rendered in plasticine - at an event known as the "P1 Enterprise." After the assembled parents had chatted to their own children and the few others they knew (or maybe that was just me) we were treated to a splendid song. During the resultant applause, Holly stepped forward and bowed. Nobody else did. I foresee a future on the stage...

Septuagenarian
This weekend, we were shacked up avec la famille in a converted mill house near the Borders town of Peebles. The sun shone, the river Tweed gurgled and splashed and sparkled, and Grandma Sheila edged a little closer to her 70th birthday (which is in fact today - Happy Birthday mum!). The kids had a great time, both of them in complete adoration of Calum, and enjoyed playing on the swings, throwing stones in the river, collecting tadpoles, riding bikes in the forest and dining out with the grownups. More pictures, if this isn't enough for you, from Dad, Scott and Niall.

The Merry Month of June
A selection of foties from the last couple of weeks, including a trip to Victoria Park, the Blackhall Sports Day, Dalkeith Country Park and points in between. Today Louis and I visited the resurfaced but sadly underused and overgrown BMX track at Drylaw. Louis loved the bumps and berms and we went round about 200 times. The one time I tried to follow Louis with a video camera, he left the track with unhappy consequences:

Sports Day
Today was sports day at Holly's school. The sun shone on the various activities and Holly's house team - Silverknowes, in white - shot into the lead. I had to go to work and thus missed the class relay races where Holly's team didn't do so well, but a great laugh seems to have been had by all. She's quite the wee athlete, and Louis was desperate to join in too. We'll need to make sure there's a bike race in a couple of years...
