Another family gathering this weekend, this time in honour of Scott's birthday. We visited Jupiter Artland, which is fabulous. We had what can only be called "mixed" weather, but the winding path through the woods brought regular new and interesting *things* to look at. The kids loved it, and did well to walk the whole way. They needed their dinner though, so our meal at Chop Chop came just in time. Again the kids did well to try new things (in this case, the dumplings for which Chop Chop is renowned) but were knackered with a capital "K" when we got home. Scott also has some pictures of the day here, and Niall's are here.

Everyone Loves A Winner
This weekend saw the 14th edition of the Great Drumtochty Challenge. Keith and I attended as usual, and after covering 37 knackering offroad miles with 1015m of climbing, we didn't think we'd done enough for a podium spot, or even to reprise the "first loser" slot we've managed in previous years. Imagine our surprise then, when we won the "Male Team Veteran" category. Turns out we were the highest-placed team at 4th overall too. We drove home grinning from ear to ear. Yeah!

May Ketchup
It's been a while; just a few snaps to keep you going during the current lull in "proper" photography. We have more kiting, more horse (OK, pony) riding, more cake and an award for Louis' poetic efforts.

Wind Chill
Flying the kite on Sunday had been such a hit, we had another go on Monday, which was the May Day public holiday. It was a glorious day, but blummen cold at times. Holly and Louis and I all did a bit of flying, and at some points we had three kites up simultaneously. Holly even had a wee go at my old 6ft Flexifoil, which was strong enough to pull her over. Several times, we all had to run at top speed after a loose kite, suddenly freed from a child's hands! The kids took turns sheltering from the wind in the bike trailer, but things warmed up as the afternoon wore on. We went home windswept and tired, pausing briefly to watch a kite surfer getting some good air off the waves at Cramond.
The Force Is Strong
It gets chilly in our house sometimes, especially when the spring brings a freezing wind straight across the North Sea from Norway. Here I am wearing Helen's Slanket in full Obi-Wan Kenobi mode.

Flying & Footie
Easy, as the song has it, like Sunday Morning. We had a bit of a lazy one, but managed a little bit of kite flying down at Silverknowes. The sun shone and the sky was blue, but the stiff Easterly breeze kept things - ahem - "fresh". In the afternoon, we went to Olive Bank to see Calum's football club, Musselburgh Windsor, play Longniddry Villa in the final of somethingorother. Alas, they were beaten despite some cracking - and exciting - goal attempts. The Millar support consoled themselves with an ice cream from Luca's afterwards.
