Monday, and with some glorious blue skies visible out the front door as we waved Helen off to work, we decided to embark on a seaside trip. So after Louis' morning nap we drove down to Yellowcraig where - in typical East Lothian fashion - the sun was shining and all was glorious. In typical April fashion however, there was also a chilly breeze coming off the sea. And so it was that we re-enacted the archetypal Scottish beach scene - sun, sea, sand and that extra ingredient - the winter coat. Holly and Louis had a good time though, we made sandcastles and drew mermaids, Louis ate some sand, Holly went paddling, and we found a sheltered spot and had a picnic lunch during which Holly scaled a nearby dune to chase seagulls and watch someone flying a kite. Great fun. Louis fell asleep on the way home (Holly nearly did too) and I transferred him to his cot without so much as a murmur when we got home. An hour later, and he was still out for the count despite much stomping and opening of curtains. A grand day out. Plus it keeps the house tidy for viewing!
